Let’s have a post for some little fun before I get back to work on the actual news.
I spent a chunk of today clearing out spam comments, thank you Akismet~
However, I skim them to make sure nothing legit got snatched up by it. This is something I’ve been doing for awhile now from Eidenyaku and started doing so for here. I got a few gems, and some that upset me so much.
I can’t believe the people who would take advantage of the earthquake in Japan to use it as a platform for spamming. They often had for the body of the comment, “All of our hearts go out to the people of Japan with this time of anguish.” with advertising in their name or URL. This is ridiculous and I will not tolerate it. Even if Akismet is blocking them, I’m banning them as well.
No tolerance.
I seem to get a lot of spam for mp3 players and ‘online gambling sites’. Uh. Sure.
But sometimes, there are a few gems out there:
Myfamily and I are at the beach and I have been trying to show them your blog, but I hadn’t bookmarked it before we left home and therefore it took me FOREVER to find it using Google. Now that I have found it, the reason why I wanted to show them, is I believe that you and I are competing against each other with our blogs. I am convinced there are enough people in the world to where we can both survive, but I wanted you to know what I am using to get fresh content while I am on vacation as it is only fair. It’ll look less like spam if you were 1) on topic; 2) coherent.

If you fix your bot, you might actually fool me for more than half a second into thinking that you honestly care.
Now that I’ve got some of this out of my system… once I’m done with my spam clearing, I’ll get to the real news. I promise.
